Bash: git: command not found

A common problem for people trying to use git is the lamentable error "bash: git: command not found".
This simply means you do not have git installed on your computer.
Install git on Debian or Ubuntu
apt install git
Install git on FreeBSD
pkg install git
Install git on Windows
To get git on Windows I think people normally use GitBash: https://gitforwindows.org/
